The Ankeny Business & Industry Collaborative has a long history in the City of Ankeny. Founded in 1966 as the Ankeny Industrial Development Corporation, the purpose was to promote the general welfare of the business, professional and community interests of the inhabitants of the city of Ankeny, and the territory surrounding said city within the County of Polk.
In 1994, this non-profit organization re-organized and became known as the Ankeny Economic Development Corporation, at a time with around 25,000 residents in Ankeny.
In 2023 with more than 70,000 residents in Ankeny, the organization again re-organized to become known as the Ankeny Business & Industry Collaborative, focused on educating, advancing, and advocating for the economic vitality of the community.
Over the years, the organization has highlighted the business success in the community with awards for Commercial Investment, Commercial Re-investment, Public/Private Partnership and Person of Vision.
