Kinzler Corporation, an employee-owned family of construction services companies, has announced an agreement to acquire Banker Insulation, a respected insulation contractor based in Chandler, Arizona, with nine locations across Arizona and New Mexico. Known for its quality installations, customer service, and expertise in insulation, rain gutters, and fireplaces, Banker Insulation serves residential, multifamily, commercial, and public works projects throughout the Southwest. The acquisition supports both companies’ growth and commitment to safety, quality, and exceptional service. Banker Insulation will retain its name and team to ensure a seamless transition. “This acquisition is about growth, opportunity, and building something even stronger,” said Tanner Kinzler, President & CEO of Kinzler Corporation. Brandan Banker added, “We chose Kinzler because they share our values and commitment to customers and employees.” This marks Kinzler’s first expansion into the Southwest, aligning with its long-term strategy and building on its 40+ years of success across Iowa, Colorado, Michigan, Nebraska, and North Carolina.

News from the City of Ankeny

City Finalizes South Ankeny Boulevard Revitalization Plan
City staff, in partnership with planning consultants, have completed the South Ankeny Boulevard Revitalization Plan, which presents a long-term vision to transform the corridor into a more vibrant, accessible, and economically resilient district. Developed in response to community input, the plan focuses on improving safety, connectivity, and aesthetics while encouraging private reinvestment.

Through targeted infrastructure upgrades, zoning adjustments, and strategic investments, the plan positions South Ankeny Boulevard to become a dynamic hub for local businesses, residents, and pedestrians. The Ankeny City Council will consider formally receiving and filing the plan at its June 2 meeting.

Key Recommendations Include:
  • SW Ordnance Road Underpass Enhancements: Incorporate public art and trail improvements.
  • Enhanced Landscaping: Add trees, planters, and seating to improve the corridor’s visual appeal.
  • Facade & Site Incentives: Establish programs to support upgrades to commercial properties.
  • Trail-Oriented Development: Promote mixed-use projects adjacent to the High Trestle Trail.
  • Housing Revitalization: Modernize and protect naturally occurring affordable housing.
  • Wayfinding & Gateway Signage: Improve navigation and establish a distinct district identity.
  • Roadway Extensions: Open access to underutilized, landlocked sites.
  • Multi-Family Development: Support high-density housing while preserving green space.
  • Gateway Mixed-Use Project: Develop a signature mixed-use site at the southern corridor entrance.
  • Streetscape Redesign: Enhance the pedestrian experience with improved design elements.

This comprehensive plan sets the stage for sustainable growth and community-driven transformation along one of Ankeny’s key corridors.

Ankeny Community School District's Innovative Hub

On November 4, 2025, voters in the Ankeny Community School District will consider a proposed General Obligation Bond. This initiative represents a strategic investment in the district’s continued excellence, enabling enhancements to educational facilities and programming without increasing the current debt service levy. The bond aligns with Ankeny’s commitment to delivering innovative, future-ready learning experiences while maintaining fiscal responsibility.

A central component of the proposed bond is the development of the Innovative Hub, a modern, multifunctional facility designed to support all secondary students as they prepare for life after high school. Whether their path leads to college, skilled trades, military service, or immediate entry into the workforce, the innovative hub will provide the resources, technology, and real-world learning environments necessary to build essential skills and confidence. This initiative reflects the community’s strong support for equipping young people with the tools they need to thrive in a dynamic global economy.

The bond proposal also includes a range of capital improvements intended to strengthen the district’s capacity to serve a growing and diverse student population. Key projects supported by the bond include:
  • Construction of the innovative secondary facility (the innovative hub)
  • Renovations and modernizations to existing high school buildings
  • Development of new Athletic Performance Centers at both high schools
  • Enhancements to fine arts learning and performance spaces
  • Upgrades to stadiums and gymnasiums
  • Improvements to baseball and softball fields

Together, these projects will create spaces that match the ambitions and talents of Ankeny students. From advanced science and career-technical education labs to high-quality athletic and arts facilities, each investment is designed to support student growth and achievement across disciplines.

Importantly, the proposed bond will not increase the district’s current debt service levy. Ankeny has demonstrated a consistent record of sound financial management, having reduced the overall property tax levy by $6.30 since 2010, while delivering on major projects funded through previous bonds in 2012 and 2018. The district’s FY2025 total property tax rate stands at $16.05, with the general obligation bond maintaining the current $2.59 debt service rate.

Investing in education is a catalyst for broader community growth. Strong schools enhance local property values, attract new families, and support sustained economic vitality. They also build community identity and pride—benefits that extend well beyond the classroom.

The November 2025 bond vote represents an opportunity for business leaders, residents, and families to come together in support of a shared future—one rooted in choice, opportunity, and success for all Ankeny students. By continuing to invest in our schools, we invest in the long-term strength and prosperity of our entire community.

Dr. Erick Pruitt will give a brief presentation and answer your questions at the June 17 Member Meeting.
